Change Of Plan

As presented in our pitch Ceri and I were originally considering/basing our idea on using a Church as our primary location for filming. Due to setbacks with this idea, Ceri and I have decided to create still a performance video, however changing the setting to on stage with professional lighting. Many aspects of our idea remain the same; we will still be using "Bows" and "Freya Tamsin" as our dancers and artist, still be using the indie song "Take Me To Church" and will be using a church setting theme within the stage setting-we aim to achieve this by lighting techniques. Our audience feedback was very helpful to us within making this decision, the problems raised especially about lighting in the Church, are all valid points which enabled Ceri and I to re-consider our plan. We are also not totally discounting the idea of the Church, who we are currently working with to understand what we can and can not film. The aim now regarding the Church is to look a...

Audience Feedback

After completing our pitch Ceri and I handed out feedback sheets to an mix sample of males and females aged 17-18. This demographic fits within our target audience of males to females aged 16-24 meaning the information we have gained for this is will valuable. While we appreciate that some people who we have given the survey to may not be interested in the indie music genre, their opinions will still be helpful as they may concern areas such as the practical side of filming. We asked them for one positive, one negative and if they had any ideas an recommendation for music video idea; the responses we have been given are listed below and are very helpful to us within the planning stages of our music video.   Positives: - Church location (this was named as a positive many times across our survey due to this being interesting and effective for our video idea) -Two different locations -Inspiration (this was mentioned a positive twice, as we completed substantial research to find i...

Dancers Name Choice

As we are having a dancing duet feature in our music video Ceri and I have come up with a name for our duo. We have decided to call them "Bows", with the inspiration behind this being the double pronunciation of bows. The first way is meaning bows the kind you tie on shoelaces and are known for being on ballet shoes. Ballerina's are often associated with bows on their ballet shoes or within their outfits and this helps to demonstrate who "Bows" are what their profession is. The other pronunciation of bow, is the action that performers take at the end of a performance, bowing to the audience. This also connotes ideas of dancing and performing, helping audiences to understand who the duo are and what they do. Finally bow can also be related to a bow and arrow; this represents the fact that they are a duo, there is two of them, and they complete each other. This shows how they are a team and work together to perform. We understand that audiences may not realise a...

Twitter Feeds

Ceri and I decided to create Twitter pages for both our artist, Freya Tamsin, who will be starring in the music video as our main singer and a page for our dance duet, Bows. We have decided to create Twitter pages for both our singer and dancers, as they are both play an equally important role within our current video plan. By creating Twitter pages we are able to make our artist, dancers and music video more realistic. In today's modern culture many people within the music industry have their own Twitter feeds, allowing them to have a more interactive relationship with their audiences. Twitter is also a very common way that artists release information about their upcoming work, as this will reach very wide audiences. Within "Freya's" Twitter page we have used a photo of her as her the icon photo and then a photo of a crowd at at concert for header. This would clearly demonstrate to audiences that this Twitter page is for an music artist; the photo we have used for ...

Song Choice

Image
We have chosen to do Take Me To Church by Hoizer for our music video as we feel this is the song that we can produce the most effective and professional music video for. As we already have a choreographed dance routine to this song we can use this on two dancers which will add a more unique element to the music video as the original music video does not include a dance routine. We also have a friend who has keys to a church in a local town which means we have the option to take up an illustrative element in our video due to the literal setting of a Church. Our chosen cover song is by Sofia Karlburg who has a very similar singing style to our friend who we have chosen to be our lead singer and this will ensure our video looks as realistic as possible, as our singer will be singing over the lyrics rather than miming as through our music video research we have decided this approach makes the video look more natural. We are going to take a dramatic approach for our music video which w...

5 Potential Songs

For this project I will be working in a pair with Ceri Lewis and before deciding on what song we would choose to use for our music video we shortlisted five possible songs. A clear theme between these songs is that they are all from the same genre of indie; we have chosen this genre as we personally have the most interest and knowledge in this genre. 1) Take Me To Church-Hozier A clear reason why Take Me To Church by the Irish, singer, songwriter and musician Hozier is a potential choice is due to the fact that both Ceri and I have connections with dancers who are experienced in performing this song. Due to their knowledge, reliability and their very professional and skilled talents we believe this would be an real asset to our music video, helping the video to look as professional as possible. We are also possibly considering having parts/all of the music video set in church, which would be an illustrative technique to create an very literal video. Also due to various connections ...
